Parent Huddles are designed to fit naturally into real church life and real family schedules. They work especially well because they are just one hour, scheduled at the same time and location as existing kids or youth programs, and don’t require an extra night out. When Parent Huddles are offered consistently every 4–6 weeks (with a break for the summer), parents know what to expect, can learn slowly over time, feel safe to return, and gradually grow in confidence and connection.
Parent Huddles are for parents at every stage — from young children to teens. Each Huddle focuses on one clear parenting question, so parents can join at any point without feeling behind. Parents don’t need to attend every time for it to be helpful. However, many choose to return because it’s a small commitment, fits naturally with dropping off their child, and the conversations feel relevant, encouraging, and practical for real life.
Developed by FamilyLife Canada, the Confident Parent Series provides trusted expert video content in a consistent 18–22 minute format. Parent Huddles are how churches bring that content to life in community.
We carefully select presenters who have faithfully served the Church and whose teaching aligns with historic Christian orthodoxy. Our speakers represent a variety of denominational backgrounds, which allows the series to serve the broader body of Christ.
Because the Confident Parent Series focuses on practical parenting topics, denominational distinctives are not addressed. We encourage parents and church leaders to engage thoughtfully, seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance, and apply what is most helpful for their family.
Parent Huddles are designed to be led by any trusted volunteer who cares about parents, can create a welcoming environment, and is willing to facilitate rather than teach. The video does the teaching and the ready-made handouts help to facilitate the discussion. The facilitator sets the tone and keeps things moving. That’s why Parent Huddles feel safe, relational, and sustainable.
After watching the video, parents use a simple, guided handout to talk together around their own table — no leading from the front is required. The conversation focuses on what stood out, how it connects to real life, and one small, practical next step to try at home. Discussions are relaxed and supportive, centred on listening and encouragement rather than having the “right” answers.
Parent Huddles are a simple form of adult discipleship that happens in the middle of real life. Rather than a class or limited series, parents grow through honest conversation, biblical insight, and practical application around everyday parenting challenges as they go.
Each Huddle focuses on one clear question, helping parents reflect on faith, learn together, and take small, meaningful steps at home. Over time, this steady rhythm builds confidence, wisdom, and spiritual growth in a way that feels natural, accessible, and sustainable for busy parents.
It can — but one hour works best for the organized part of the huddle. Through experience and feedback, we’ve found that a clear one-hour commitment helps more parents say yes and attend consistently. Parents are welcome to arrive early or stay after, but knowing they can come and go right at the hour makes Parent Huddles feel accessible, sustainable, and guilt-free.
Parent Huddles aren’t workshops — they’re huddles. Simple, focused, and repeatable.
Most churches find that hosting Parent Huddles every 4–6 weeks works best. Parenting is more complex than ever, and real growth happens over time. This spacing creates a steady, sustainable rhythm for parents to learn, reflect, and grow without feeling overwhelmed, while fitting naturally alongside existing kids or youth programs.
Churches that report the most consistent parent engagement align Parent Huddles with existing kids or youth programs, using the same night and location. This makes it easier for parents to attend, reduces scheduling friction, and helps Parent Huddles become a natural part of church life rather than one more thing to fit in.
Yes. You’re encouraged to make the Parent Huddle your own. The provided survey and promotional tools can be customized to reflect your church — including the time, day, registration method, location, and any details parents need to know. We provide a simple foundation so you don’t have to start from scratch, while giving you full flexibility to fit your context.
Parent Huddles are designed to serve churches, not constrain them. Through experience and feedback from churches across the country, we’ve found the model works best when it stays simple — a one-hour gathering, on the same night and location as an existing kids or youth program, offered as an ongoing rhythm.
At the same time, this is your Parent Huddle. You know your parents and your context best. We’re here to share what we’ve seen work well and to support you as you care for parents in ways that fit your church.
